I ended the previous week with shopping on Saturday, hitting the town, and then attending St. Patrick's day parade on Sunday. So much Irish love in the air.
Not the awesomest parade, but fun nonetheless
These ladies were fun
The parade ended in Trafalgar Square where the party started.
I started this past incredible week at work. Patrick was gone, so it was just me and Suni in the office, sort of. She brought in a man named Michael from the Newcastle office and a strategic planner. We brainstormed all day on how to create a strategic approach to a Limited Edition package and a campaign to go along with it. My brain hurt when we were done, but it was so much fun. Ideas moved at the speed of light in that room. I like seeing how people can feed off of one anothers energy to create things. It's a really fantastic process. Sadly I had to go home to a paper that was due on Thursday. I really should have finished it earlier so I didn't feel the time crunch, but then I wouldn't be me, would I? I didn't finish my paper. In fact, I barely started it. Go me!
On Tuesday I didn't have to go into the office because Suni was out of town working, so I stayed in and wrote my paper. It was so hard to focus that it basically took me all day when it should have only taken me 2 hours. This is what happens when I have too much time on my hands. A friend from Drake, Jim, had arrived in town, so we went to happy hour at Loco Mexicano for 2-4-1 drinks and then ended the night at the local pub The Albert. I tried a new beer called London Pride. It was pretty good, but had a lot more spice than normal beers. It came in a cool glass so I decided to get one for my UK glass collection that I have started.
Advertising on Wednesday was a little strange. We started in a classroom as usual but our professor decided to take us to a modern art gallery. There was some really shocking, graffic, explicit and weird stuff in there. None of it was to my taste at all. Every single piece I associated with a bad feeling of some sort. I guess I am just not a modern art kinda girl. In contrast with that, art class was held at the Wallace Exhibit which is a private collection turned musuem of a house furnished completely in the 18th century French Rococo style. I was in heaven. That is my style and time period.
Yes, this is a taxiderm camel in a suitcase. One piece of modern art.
French Rococo Style table. LOVE IT!
Wednesday was obviously St. Patrick's day and I had NO GREEN to where. Sad, I know. Some Londoners made it a whole day thing, and some Central Abroaders did as well. I just went to The Albert and drank some Guinness. I had a big day on Thursday so I didn't really want to get too crazy. I got a Guinness glass as a souvenir making make UK glass collection 3/4. I would say it was a successful St. Patty's.
Getting our St. Patty's day on with Guinness in hand and on head.
Thursday was a rush and deserves a post of its own so that will come next. I left for Rome on Thursday and there were plenty of shenanigans that took place. Stay tuned!
Pip Pip Cheerio!
